1/2 c. plus 1 T. sugar
1 T. cornstarch
1 can fruit filling
Butter and cinnamon to taste
1 c. sifted flour
1 1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
3 T. shortening
1/2 c. milk
Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch in saucepan. Stir fruit in gradually. Bring to boil Boil 1 minutes stirring constantly. Pour into 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Sift flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt together into mixing bowl. Cut shortening in with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture looks like meal. Stir in milk. Drop by spoonfuls onto hot fruit mix. Bake for 25-30 minutes in 400 degree oven. Serve warm with ice cream.
