1 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 t. vanilla
2 T. warm water
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. white sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 7 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Cream shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy. Stir in beaten eggs and vanilla. Add baking soda to water and stir until dissolved. Add to first mixture with salt, mixing well. Stir in flour and beat until well blended. Lightly fold in chocolate chips. Drop from a spoon 2" apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake ten minutes at 350 degrees.
