2 3/4 c. all purpose flour
5 T. vegetable shortening
1/2 t. salt
3/4 c. warm water
Mix the shortening and flour into large bowl. Add salt to water. Add about a fourth of the water into flour at a time until dough is formed. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead about 10 minutes. Divide into 12 pieces rolling the pieces into balls. Cover dough and let sit for 30 minutes. Roll out each ball onto a lightly floured surface using a thin rolling pin. Rotate the tortilla one quarter with each roll to keep the shape even. Keep rolling until tortilla is about 12". To heat tortillas heat on a frying pan on each side until sides begin to blister and turn light brown.
